Breaking Prophecy News; God’s Program for the Nations (#103)

Complete Broadcast Text

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, however it is all about preparation.

First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.

The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ then went on to give them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Nuclear talks fail again as Iran rejects proposals from the West. According to The Associated Press, Iranian negotiators on Thursday rejected proposals by six world powers to curb Tehran’s nuclear program, and demanded answers to their own counteroffer meant to alleviate concerns about the Islamic Republic’s ability to build atomic weapons. The stance underscored the difficulties facing the nuclear talks as both sides stake out their terms and agendas for a second day in the Iraqi capital. The negotiations did not appear in danger of collapse. Envoys added extra hours to their meetings as a sandstorm closed down the Baghdad airport.

The Scientific American says society may have passed the environmental point of no return. According to Scientific American, four decades ago, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology computer model called World3 warned that the global industrial system has so much inertia that it cannot readily correct course in response to signals of planetary stress. In his new book, titled 2052: A Global Forecast for the Next Forty Years, Jorgen Randers of the BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo, and one of the original World3 computer modelers, argues that the second half of the 21st century will bring us near apocalypse in the form of severe global warming. Dennis Meadows, professor emeritus of systems policy at the University of New Hampshire who headed the original M.I.T. team and revisited World3 in 1994 and 2004, has an even darker view. The 1970s program had yielded a variety of scenarios, in some of which humanity manages to control production and population to live within planetary limits. Meadows contends that the model’s sustainable pathways are no longer within reach because humanity has failed to act accordingly. Instead, the latest global data are tracking one of the most alarming scenarios, in which these variables increase steadily to reach a peak and then suddenly drop in a process called collapse. In fact, Dennis Meadows says, “I see collapse happening already. Food per capita is going down, energy is becoming more scarce, groundwater is being depleted.” Randers notes that greenhouse gases are being emitted twice as fast as oceans and forests can absorb them. Whereas in 1972 humans were using 85 percent of the regenerative capacity of the biosphere to support economic activities such as growing food, producing goods and assimilating pollutants, the figure is now at 150 percent—and growing.

The European Union wants to create biometric “e-identities” for all EU citizens. According to the EU news site, EurActiv.com, the European Commission is set to launch a substantial review of rules governing personal documents with the aim of making electronic identities take off across the EU. But the proposal faces likely opposition from civil rights groups and member states where identity cards do not exist. Neelie Kroes, the EU’s Digital Agenda Commissioner, will present by the beginning of June a new legislative proposal which aims “to facilitate cross-border electronic transactions” through the adoption of harmonised e-signatures, e-identities and electronic authentication services across EU member states.

Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “God’s Program for the Nations” from John MacArthur’s book “The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.” MacArthur writes the following on this subject:

God has always judged sin — both personal and national. This is seen in the Old Testament when God destroyed entire nations in judgment against their sin. You say, “Well, do you believe that God is going to come in judgment?” Absolutely. God is a God of love, but he is also a God of righteousness who must punish sin. In fact, the Bible says that all judgment is given to the Son. So, if God is going to judge the nations, and Jesus is the judge, then Jesus has to return to judge the nations. One passage which tells of this coming judgment of the nations is Joel 3:9-16.

The context of this prophecy is the period of time when God regathers Israel. Verses 30-31 of chapter 2 tell us when this occurs: “And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.” So, the specific time referred to here is the Second Coming. Now, what’s going to happen? Look at verses 9-11a: “Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong. Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about…” There is to be a gathering of all nations for war at the time of the end. This is known as the Battle of Armageddon.

Verse 12 continues: “Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake…”

On our next broadcast we will look at the next two passages which show God’s plan for the nations in the end times.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

God wants us to be active and engaged in spiritual warfare in the last days. In light of that, please listen to what Dr. David Jeremiah writes in his book titled “I Never Thought I’d See the Day”. The title of this section is “When Christian’s Wouldn’t Know They Were in a War (Part 12) — Satan as an Undetected Enemy Continued”.

In his book This World: Playground or Battleground? the late A.W. Tozer wrote about the disappearance of the concept of spiritual conflict in the modern church. He said:

In the early days, when Christianity exercised a dominant influence over American thinking, men conceived the world to be a battleground. Our fathers believed in sin and the devil and hell as one constituting force, and they believed in God and righteousness and heaven as the other. Man had to choose sides — he could not be neutral. For him it must be life or death, heaven or hell, and if he chose to come out on God’s side, he could expect open war with God’s enemies. The fight would be real and deadly and would last as long as life continued here below. The Christian soldier never forgot what kind of world he lived in — it was a battleground, and many were wounded and slain.

How different today. The fact remains the same, but the interpretation has changed completely. Men think of the world not as a battleground, but as a playground.

Many Christians have lost sight of the fact that they are in a war — a war for the ages and a war for the souls of men. Yes, God wins in the end, and we Christians win with Him. But that does not take into account the casualties along the way that could be prevented if we were “sober” and “vigilant” instead of indifferent.

CLOSING PRAYER
…….

Now, if you are listening to this broadcast and you do not know Jesus Christ as your saviour, God wants you to accept Jesus Christ before He returns. The Bible says in Romans 10:9 and 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Friend of mine, if you are willing to trust Christ as your Savior today, please pray with me the following prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner. For Jesus Christ’s sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life. Amen.

Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”

Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
