Breaking Prophecy News; God’s Promises Regarding the Second Coming (Part 4) (#87)

Complete Broadcast Text

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, however it is all about preparation.

First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.

The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ then went on to give them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Israel calls up reserves to face growing threats on Egyptian and Syrian borders. According to the Times of Israel, the IDF has issued emergency call up orders to six reserve battalions in light of new dangers on the Egyptian and Syrian borders. And the Knesset has given the IDF permission to summon a further 16 reserve battalions if necessary. An IDF spokesperson said intelligence assessments called for the deployment of more soldiers. According to 2008′s Reserve Duty Law, combat soldiers can be called for active reserve duty once every three years, and for short training sessions during the other two. Rising tensions between Israel and Egypt and the ongoing unrest in Syria caused the army to ask the Knesset for special permission to call up more soldiers, more often.

Experts warn that a Europe-like crisis is around the corner for the U.S. According to CBN, as the days go by, the U.S. national debt steadily goes up. Since 2007, it has been increasing at a pace of $397 billion a day. If that doesn’t worry you, consider what’s happening in Europe. This week, the Dutch government gave up after not being able to come up with a plan to bring down their deficit. Some experts warn if the United States doesn’t take care of business soon, America will be going down the same path. Sen. Tom Coburn, author of the book The Debt Bomb, talked about how a debt crisis could soon affect ordinary Americans. Rep. Paul Ryan said, “If we have a debt crisis, which is just around the corner, then all those programs that people organize their lives around, their retirements around, are going to be broken promises, and we’re going to have severe disruption in peoples’ lives.”

The U.S. is stepping up military planning regarding Iran. According to the Washington Post, the U.S. military is discussing significant changes in its war plans to adhere to President Obama’s new strategic guidance that downplays preparing for conflicts such as Iraq and Afghanistan, and counts on allies to provide additional troops. War planning for Iran is now the most pressing scenario, or what the Pentagon calls a contingency. U.S. Central Command believes it can destroy or significantly degrade Iran’s conventional armed forces in about three weeks using air and sea strikes, according to a defense source familiar with the discussions. Such strikes are an option in a response to Tehran’s striking U.S. and international ships in the Persian Gulf and attempting to close the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which about one-fifth of the world’s oil is transported. The Pentagon is now conducting a step-by-step surge of forces in the Gulf.

5 earthquakes shake western and southern Mexico. According to USA TODAY, five moderate-to-strong earthquakes shook parts of western and southern Mexico this week. A magnitude 6.0 earthquake off the coast of Chi-a-pas shook southern Mexico. That was followed 13 minutes later by a magnitude 4.6 aftershock in the same offshore area. Farther north in Mexico, three moderate quakes ruptured within two hours of each other — two quakes shook Baja California and the third was felt in Mi-choa-can and Mexico City. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

The Bible says in Matthew 24:7-8: “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.”

Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “God’s Promises Regarding the Second Coming (Part 4)” from John MacArthur’s book “The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Today we will look at three more passages which show that God has promised Jesus Christ will return.

The first passage we will look at is Isaiah 45:23: God says, “I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.” Has every knee bowed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ yet? Of course not. It hasn’t happened.

The second passage we will look at is Jeremiah 23:5-6: “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper…” The first time Jesus came, He said He was a King, but the people rejected his Kingdom. Verse 5 continues, “and he shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.” Now, amillennialists say that there’s never an earthly kingdom, but verse 5 says Jesus will rule “in the earth.” Jesus Christ doesn’t reign on the earth right now, so He is going to have to come back again. Verse 6 adds, “In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely…” That hasn’t happened. The people of Israel don’t dwell in safety today.

The third passage we will look at today is Ezekiel 21:25-27: Did you know that demons can control governments? In Israel, apart from God and a belief in Messiah, Satan’s forces control the country. Verse 25 of Ezekiel 21 says, “And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel [the demon behind them], whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end…” God is going to let iniquity run its course and then deal with him.

The passage goes on to say, “Thus saith the Lord GOD; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown…” In other words, “You’ve been ruling in the land but it’s over.” Verse 27 continues, “I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.” God says, “I am going to take it all back and give it to whom it really belongs — Jesus Christ.” Has God turned over the land of Israel to the rule of Jesus Christ? Not yet, but it will come in the future — when Jesus returns.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

The Bible says that in the last days, persecution of believers will increase, God wants us to stand with and support those who are suffering for the Christian faith. In light of that, please listen to part one of an article titled “Remembering the Persecuted Church and How You Can Help” from the Ankerberg Theological Research Institute.

Psalm 115:16 says “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.”

James 5:16 says “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective”.

Each year between 100-150,000 Christians are murdered simply for being Christians. According to Christian Solidarity International (CSI), more Christians were martyred in the 20th century than at any time since Jesus birth. And that’s only the form persecution known as “death.” If we were to consider all forms of persecution, we could be talking about 100 million Christians who experience persecution globally. This is truly horrible.

But it’s not as if we should never have expected it. For two millennia the world has been fulfilling the prophecy of Jesus: “Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also…” (John 15:20).

But the glory of the gospel is that martyred Christians have the privilege of being unique in how they die, the privilege of dying with genuine love for those who murder them. The Bible tells us we are to forgive those who murder us, even as they are in the process of performing the act. As Jesus was being crucified He said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34). Stephen likewise: “Then he fell on his knees and cried out, ‘Lord, do not hold this sin against them.’ When he had said this, he fell asleep” (Acts 7:60).

Only God knows how many persecutors of Christians have ended up in Heaven because of how these martyrs died and because those they tormented and other Christians around the world were praying for them. Jesus was quite emphatic on this – we are to love our enemies and do good to those who persecute us: “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which spitefully use you, and persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44, AKJV).

We can do this because of the great love with which we have been loved by God (1 John 4:10, 19), and the infinite mercy He has shown us. It is good to keep things in perspective – no matter how badly we are persecuted, tortured, or the manner by which we are put to death, we are always being shown more mercy than we deserve. Indeed, “he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities” (Psalm 103:10, cf. Ezra 9:13). “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail” (Lamentations 3:22).

CLOSING PRAYER
…….

Now, if you are listening to this broadcast and you do not know Jesus Christ as your saviour, God wants you to accept Jesus Christ before He returns. The Bible says in Romans 10:9 and 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Friend of mine, if you are willing to trust Christ as your Savior today, please pray with me the following prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner. For Jesus Christ’s sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life. Amen.

Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”

Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
