Breaking Prophecy News; The Symbolic Picture of Christ’s Second Coming (#102)

Complete Broadcast Text

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, however it is all about preparation.

First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.

The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ then went on to give them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Russia is testing a ‘fifth generation’ missile that can penetrate NATO’s defence system. According to The Telegraph, Russia has staged the first successful test-launch of a new intercontinental missile designed to penetrate the defence system now being deployed by NATO despite Moscow’s fierce complaints. The highly-symbolic launch came just days after an alliance formally activated the first stage of a missile defence shield whose deployment Russia has bitterly opposed out of fears that it may target its own vast nuclear arsenal. Russian Strategic Nuclear Forces spokesman Vadim Koval said “The dummy warhead reached its target area at the Kura test range on the Kam-chat-ka Peninsula. The set goals of the launch were reached.” A military source told the agency that the launch was only the second ever conducted in the top-secret program.

More than 5,000 aftershocks from Japanese earthquake. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, an earthquake that ruptured this week off the coast of Japan was one of the largest recent aftershocks to affect an area that, more than a year after one of the most powerful earthquakes on record, is still experiencing a steady stream of seismic jolts. So far, 5,229 aftershocks have rattled the tectonic boundary that ruptured off the coast of Japan’s To-ho-ku region in March 2011. The magnitude-9.0 earthquake was the fifth largest earthquake ever recorded. The Sunday quake is listed as magnitude 6.4 making it the largest aftershock since March 14, when a magnitude-6.9 earthquake hit the region.

Economist Jim Cramer predicts “financial anarchy” in Europe. According to The Economic Collapse Blog, during an appearance on Meet The Press, Jim Cramer of CNBC boldly predicted that “financial anarchy” is coming to Europe and that there will be “bank runs” in Spain and Italy in the next few weeks. This is very strong language for an anchor on the most watched financial news channel in the United States to be using. While it may not happen in “the next few weeks”, the truth is that the European banking system is in a massive amount of trouble and if Greece does leave the euro it is going to cause a tremendous loss of confidence in banks in countries such as Spain, Italy and Portugal. There are already rumors that the “smart money” is pulling out of Spanish and Italian banks. We could see some of these bank collapse. It is hard to predict exactly how “financial anarchy” will play out, but it is becoming increasingly clear that the European financial system is heading for a massive amount of pain.

Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “The Symbolic Picture of Christ’s Second Coming” from John MacArthur’s book “The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.” MacArthur writes the following on this subject:

The Second Coming is likened to a wedding; and in II Corinthians 11:2 the church is seen as a virgin waiting for her husband. Marriages in the Oriental World had three aspects and we will see how each of these aspects parallels God’s program for the church.

1. The legal contract.

The custom: In the time of Christ, parents would get together and decide to marry their children off to each other — whether or not the prospective bride and bridegroom had ever seen each other before. The fathers would agree on marriage, and then a dowry would be paid. Once the payment was made, the marriage was considered legal — even though no consummation had taken place.

The comparison: When Jesus died on the cross, He made a legal payment for our marriage to Him. And even though the marriage has not yet been consummated, it’s binding because He paid the dowry with His own precious blood.

2. The betrothal.

The custom: This consisted of a little ceremony where the bride and bridegroom would get together in the presence of witnesses and receive a lot of presents. History tells us that all kinds of gifts were given. Still, the marriage wasn’t consummated.

The comparison: The betrothal is a beautiful parallel to the fact that God gives gifts of the Spirit when we come to Jesus Christ. Now, the consummation has not yet happened, but we have all the gifts.

3. The marriage feast.

The custom: The third phase of the wedding occurred when the bridegroom and his friends went to the bride’s house. There they had the actual ceremony followed by a marriage feast.

The comparison: We’ve already had the legal contract affirmed, and we’ve already had the betrothal. Now we’re just waiting for the marriage feast. Unless Jesus comes back, there will be no feast. He must come back to claim His bride, the church, to consummate the marriage.

This is a symbolic picture of the plan of the church. God would never use the beautiful metaphor of marriage and then leave us hanging forever, with no consummation. Those of us who have put our trust in Christ, are legally married to Him. We are secured by the engagement ring, the Holy Spirit. Christ paid the dowry when he died on the cross, so legally we are joined to Him. We have been betrothed to him in that the Spirit has given us gifts. Now, all we’re waiting for is the final moment when we enter His presence and the marriage feast begins. So, God’s purpose for the church demands the return of Jesus Christ, or else the marriage doesn’t come into consummation.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.
God wants us to be active and engaged in spiritual warfare in the last days. In light of that, please listen to what Dr. David Jeremiah writes in his book titled “I Never Thought I’d See the Day”. The title of this section is “When Christian’s Wouldn’t Know They Were in a War (Part 11) — Satan as an Undetected Enemy Continued”.

Satan’s war against us is organized and complete with strategies. The word principalities refers to his head officers, while the word wiles refers to clever plans, crafty deceptions, and cunning methods. Like a military general, Satan plans his attacks and directs his demonic forces.

So, the more unsuspecting or unbelieving a person is concerning the reality of spiritual warfare, the more easily he or she becomes prey. More than a century ago, the evangelical Anglican J.C. Ryle wrote:

The saddest symptom about many so-called Christians is the utter absence of anything like conflict and fight in their Christianity. They eat, they drink, they dress, they work, they amuse themselves, they get money, they spend money, they go through a scanty round of formal religious services once or twice every week. But the great spiritual warfare — its watchings and strugglings, its agonies and anxieties, its battles and contests — of all this they appear to know nothing at all.

CLOSING PRAYER
…….

Now, if you are listening to this broadcast and you do not know Jesus Christ as your saviour, God wants you to accept Jesus Christ before He returns. The Bible says in Romans 10:9 and 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Friend of mine, if you are willing to trust Christ as your Savior today, please pray with me the following prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner. For Jesus Christ’s sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life. Amen.

Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”

Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
