Breaking Prophecy News; The Hope of the Saints, Part 1 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #119)

Complete Broadcast Text

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, however it is all about preparation.

First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.

The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ then went on to give them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

U.S. defense secretary says cyberattacks have ‘the potential for another Pearl Harbor’. According to CNS News, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta warned a Senate panel that America faces “the potential for another Pearl Harbor” launched by enemies who have the capability to wield a cyberattack that would “paralyze this country.” Panetta made his remarks under questioning by Sen. Lindsey Graham during a Department of Defense budget hearing held by the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense. Referring to a potential cyberattack against the United States, Graham asked, “You said something that just kind of went over everybody’s head, I think, that there’s a Pearl Harbor in the making here. You’re talking about shutting down financial systems, releasing chemicals from chemical plants, releasing water from dams, shutting down power systems that can affect the very survival of the nation. What’s the likelihood in the next five years that one of these major events will occur?” Panetta answered, “All I can tell you is that technologically the capability to paralyze this country is there now.” When Graham asked whether a “growing will” existed among enemies of the United States to engage in a cyberattack, Panetta said, “I think that the more this technology develops, the more the will to potentially use it is going to take place.” Graham, who also serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee, then followed up and asked, “Would you say there’s a high probability?” Panetta said “I think there’s a high risk.”

Banks prepare for worldwide chaos after Greek election. According to The Telegraph, speculation is mounting that central banks including the Bank of England, Bank of Japan and US Federal Reserve are readying emergency support measures to fight the market fall-out which the result of the Greek election could unleash. G20 officials said central banks were ready to step in if needed to stabilise financial markets after the vote. A spokesman for the Canadian prime minister said his country is “ready to act” if the situation takes a serious turn for the worse or if there is “an external shock.” The head of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi, also fuelled speculation of looming action, as he indicated inflation was not a threat which would prevent a move. He said, “There are serious downside risks here. This risk has to do mostly with the heightened uncertainty.”

15 people are dead after three church bombings in Nigeria. According to CNN, at least 15 people were killed and 32 others injured on Sunday in three church bombings in northern Nigeria. Mohammed Sidi, director-general of the National Emergency Management Agency, said the first two bombings occurred within minutes of each other in the town of Zaria in Kaduna state. Lucy Bello, a member of the Goodnews Wusasa Zaria church, said the explosion occurred about 9 a.m., as she was walking into the building. A suicide bomber drove at high speed through a barricade at the church. Within minutes, another explosion occurred at the CKC Catholic Church in Zaria and an hour and a half later, the Sharon Church in the city of Kaduna, about an hour away, was bombed. The bombings are the latest in a string of violence directed at churches by the Islamist terror group Boko Haram.

Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “The Hope of the Saints (Part 1)” from John MacArthur’s book “The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.” MacArthur writes the following on this subject:

God is not in the business of giving false hope. We are loved by the Father as much as He loves Jesus, because He loves us in Him. We are the select objects of His care, the center of His heart, the joy of his existence…and He knows we are expecting Jesus. Jesus announced six times in the book of Revelation, “Behold, I come quickly.” Finally John closes out the book and says, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” Can you imagine God answering John, “Nope, I changed my mind.” God knows the longing of our hearts. He knows that we are expecting the return of His Son.

Please notice from these verses how the Bible applies our expectation to our faith.

I Peter 1:7-8a says, “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love.”

James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” In other words, if God says He’ll do something, He’ll do it!

Philippians 1:6 says, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” — the day that he returns.

II Thessalonians 1:5-7 says, “Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels.” In other words, Paul says to the Thessalonians, ‘You want proof that God is righteous? First, He’ll punish those who have troubled you. Secondly, Jesus will come and take you out of trouble.” The righteousness of God is at stake. God gave us a hope and He will fulfill it!

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

God wants us to have the right spiritual attitude toward the world as it crumbles around us in these last days. In light of that, please listen to what Dr. David Jeremiah writes in his book titled “I Never Thought I’d See the Day” about the mentality that Christians should have.

Regardless of what happens in the future, I need spiritual protection from conformity and God’s power to be transformed. And I need it today! Even if the intensity of the storms around us doesn’t increase in my lifetime or yours, they are bad enough today to make me know that I need protection and power to endure. I do not know God’s timetable for America or the world. The return of Christ could be further away than I think it is, and this period of crisis that threatens us now may temporarily smooth itself out. Indeed, I hope it does. I do not wish ill upon my nation or the world.

But the truth is, even in the best of times—even in the good old days—this world is not our friend. It has been usurped by Satan, and we need to defend ourselves against being conformed to it. We need to be constantly in the transformative process of becoming more like Jesus Christ regardless of what is happening around us.

This protection from conformity and power to be transformed is the only way to find peace and joy in this life. If we allow our well-being to depend on external circumstances—our financial security, our comfort, the satisfaction of material or sensual desire, or our health, we consign ourselves to lives of anxiety over events we cannot control. We are dependent on a world that cannot offer the ultimate security and meaning we desire. The only solution is to follow a different path from that of the disintegrating world around us.

CLOSING PRAYER
…….

Now, if you are listening to this broadcast and you do not know Jesus Christ as your saviour, God wants you to accept Jesus Christ before He returns. The Bible says in Romans 10:9 and 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Friend of mine, if you are willing to trust Christ as your Savior today, please pray with me the following prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner. For Jesus Christ’s sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life. Amen.

Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”

Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
