“Now, when these things begin to happen, look up and raise your heads, for your redemption is near”
(Luke 21:28)
The Lord Jesus has already spoken to us of his return through biblical prophecies. A series of facts predicted a long time ago and which today finds true confirmation as they are all fulfilled.
“Now you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; take care not to be troubled, for this must happen, but it will not yet be the end. For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom; there will be famines and earthquakes in various places, but all this will only be the beginning of pain.”(Gospel According to Matthew)
And so much is happening especially in recent years, several disasters are progressively intensifying and spreading everywhere: terrorist acts, earthquakes, floods, droughts, fires, famines and epidemics.
Earthquakes
The whole world is involved. The Nepal earthquake was one of the biggest in recent times, and there have been other equally serious ones in various parts of the world.
Terrorism
Terrorist acts undermine our culture, our way of being by bringing internal wars.
Fire
Fires are burning everywhere eliminating part of life from the woods to the animals that live there such as in Australia, California and now the Amazon.
Flood
Floods and climate change are undermining our security, starting with the rising waters that will lead to the disappearance of numerous territories.
Epidemics
For some time there has been the birth and spread of many epidemics that cause a huge amount of deaths, the latest arrival being Covid-19 which is uniting the planet in a single disaster.
“And just as it was in the days of Noah, so it will also be in the days of the Son of man. People ate, drank, married, until the day that Noah entered the ark; and the flood came and destroyed them all. The same was also true in the days of Lot: people ate, drank, bought, sold, planted and built; but on the day that Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.” (Gospel According to Luke)
And that is exactly all that is happening in our day. The world seeks the well-being of a normal and serene daily life, despite the growing and spreading evil.
Money and Power, our only priorities, the only ones that have a value. Individuals still continue to look for differences between us and others, as if we had forgotten a story that tried to teach us, but which today we seem to reject.
“And because iniquity will be multiplied, the charity of most will grow cold”
(Gospel according to Matthew)
Worldly life and wealth are still paths traveled by many religious who seem to be believers and devoted to God but it is all appearance. Some sell all kinds of merchandise in their churches, others go into business, and still others run factories and work hard to make money.
Some rival pastors and elders split into different factions and gangs, steal offerings, engage in sexually abusive behavior, and have no God-fearing hearts.
This is exactly what our times see accomplished with the result of an abundance of believers.
“Because false Christs and false prophets will arise, and they will do great signs and wonders to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect”
(Gospel according to Matthew)
In recent years, false Christs and false prophets have appeared one after the other in countries such as China, South Korea and Japan, but also in other different countries. They call themselves “Christ” and not only try to pass themselves off as Jesus with the name of Jesus, but also try to imitate the signs and wonders of the Lord Jesus, healing the sick and casting out demons.
“So Moses stretched out his staff over Egypt and the Lord made an east wind blow across the earth all that day and all that night. In the morning the wind had brought the locusts, they invaded all of Egypt, and they established in every area of the country in large numbers”
And the locusts that have recently invaded Africa should also be considered as a sign. Experts feared that the swarm could grow in size and spread to other parts of the continent, eventually threatening the Middle East. Images that recall a page of the Book of Exodus, in the Old Testament, when God sends the 7 plagues on Egypt, to allow the Israelites to escape.
The “rebirth” of Israel which took place in 1948. Perhaps the prophecy that we know best and of which we are sure of its fulfilment. Somehow it marks the beginning of everything we see happening in the whole world today; witnesses of the fulfilment of prophecies mentioned more than 2000 years ago.
